A digital printing system can be characterized to be a system that prints images directly from ripped information, without a master(as done in copiers), so that every printed page can have variable data. The technologies used in digital printing are based on electro photography, inkjet, magneto-graphy, iconography, and electro- coagulation. This paper will pertain itself with electro photography printing process.
An electro photographic copying process uses a charged area development (CAD), while the printing process uses a discharged area development (DAD). In any electro photographic printing process, the media properties need to be optimized to match the toner parameters and the type of fusing systems employed.
