Toners and  inks Continue to Evolve Along With Their Cartridges Part 1 : Toner

Each year, more inkjet and electro photographic devices hit the market, and virtually every one performs better than its predecessor. While advancements in software and certain hardware elements like paper-handling play a role in achieving new levels of performance, I maintain that most gains are derived from the newly engineered consumables deployed in the latest devices.

Remanufacturing the Samsung SCX- 4200 Toner Cartridges
[10-feb]

The Samsung SCX-4200 engine is a 600-dpi, 18-ppm laser engine that prints, copies and scans. No fax options are available for these machines. They are a light-use machine with the duty cycle rated for 800 copies/month. One interesting thing to note is that the service manual lists the machine life as five years or 50,000 pages, whichever comes first. The fuser, paper pickup rollers, transfer roller and separation pad are all rated for 50,000 pages. So basically when they wear out, according to Samsung, it’s time for a new machine.

The Crossroads of Wild- Format inks and Marketing
[10-feb]

The wide-format industry – like the marketing arena it caters to – has always been particularly creative. Innovations have often been formulated, implemented and responsible for setting the standard for later OEMs product introductions in the same category. Encad, for example, developed the first colour inkjet printing done in wide format by draining HP’s black cartridges, cleaning them, then filling them with colour inks to print the full CMYK spectrum, said Mike Andreottola, founder, president and CEO of American Ink Jet. Similarly, aqueous machines were modified to use the latest innovation in wide-format ink at that time – solvents – for printing outdoor advertising in the early 1990s; Raster Graphics followed this trend by launching the Raster Graphics Arizona, which printed using solvent inks, said Ken Kisner, president of INX Digital.

Remanufacturing Industry: A look ahead
[10-feb]

In the beginning of 2011, one of my close associates asked me “How would this year be for our industry?” My reply was: “It is quite tough”. But, if we can retain our market share, the going would be good. I can also see the consolidation taking place in our industry and this would take us towards an organized growth.

A lot has happened globally in       the last two years. In India, entry     of new players and international    raw material manufacturers are exerting increased pressure on price and consequently, the quality has gone down.
